THE BRIXTON HILL
BRIXTON, LONDON
The project involves the demolition and redevelopment of the upper storey to a late Victorian industrial workshop building in south London.
The new extension will provide 13 new flats and maisonettes over 3 levels based on an eccentric section with the upper level maisonettes accessed from a new suspended gallery walkway.
The new extension is clad in lightweight veneered plywood panels from Italy selected as a counterpoint to the heavyweight London stock brick of the ground floor base. A bank of photovoltaic cells is incorporated into the south facing slope of the roof to minimise energy use.
