WALSALL
Competition 2008
In our shortlisted design Young People are placed centre stage. Spacial variety offers every individual a comfortable learning environment : Exotic seating, inspiring spaces, intimate corners, study carrels, group work pods, all encourage adventure in learning.
This library will be the local destination of choice outside
the home and looks out on a new pedestrian footway and play park. The main library space is naturally ventilated and well lit under a dramatic gull wing roof constructed from a low cost small span timber frame.
The surrounding support facilities are also prefabricated
timber frame. The whole building is orientated about the Bentley Cairn – Bentley Crossroads axis, with easy walkway access through the site up on to the local viewpoint. |
