ETAL MANOR BRIDGE
NORTHUMBERLAND
We are consultant architects for this interesting bridge project, working with the green woodfurniture designer Jeremy Davies and structuralengineers Price and
Myers.
This footbridge is to be constructed entirely from timber (indigenous oak,ash and cedar) and will span some 9m across a small ravine in the landscaped garden of Etal Manor, near Berwickupon Tweed, Northumberland.
Ramped and wreathed laminate timber beams will support a gentlycurved deck out of which will be cantilever timber posts supporting a curved clinker built balustrade.
The design is derived from Jeremy Davies' Ellipsegarden seat furniture designs and incorporates traditional Northumbrian boat building skills andtechnologies. |
