We are consultant architects for this interesting bridge project, working with the green woodfurniture designer Jeremy Davies and structural engineers Price and
Myers.
This footbridge was constructed entirely from timber (indigenous oak,ash and cedar) and span some 9m across a small ravine in the landscaped garden of Etal Manor, near Berwickupon Tweed, Northumberland.
Ramped and wreathed laminate timber beams support a gently curved deck out of which are cantilever timber posts supporting a curved clinker built balustrade.
The design is derived from Jeremy Davies' Ellipse garden seat furniture designs and incorporates traditional Northumbrian boat building skills and technologies. |
